Title: Prof. Dr Bert E. A. de Groot to resign as Rector Magnificus and Dean of Nyenrode Business Universiteit

Breukelen, 5 June 2009; Prof. Dr Bert E.A.de Groot has decided to step down as Rector Magnificus and Dean of Nyenrode Business Universiteit, effective 1 September 2009. Prof. De Groot, who has held the position of Rector Magnificus and Dean since 2006, will spend more time on research into the economic crisis and will remain at Nyenrode as professor in Business & Economic Cycles.
Since Prof. Dr Bert de Groot took office he has formulated a dual – academic and business – growth model for Nyenrode Business Universiteit in a private environment. The executive education programs especially have led to a substantial increase in revenue.
The emphasis on innovative and business subjects has led to stronger relations with internationally leading academics and business leaders, NGOs, political and societal institutions. In addition, intercontinental collaborations with academics, universities and companies have led to a stronger international positioning of Nyenrode.
During his tenure, Nyenrode has risen from 48th to 28th on the Financial Times’ ‘European Best Business School’ ranking. Nyenrode extends its gratitude to Prof. Dr Bert de Groot and thanks him for his dedication.
